Caring for your Nappy

  •    No need for soaking – All you need to do is flush away any solid waste and then pop your nappies straight into a lidded bucket until wash day.  This is known as ‘dry-pailing’.  You can give your nappies a quick rinse before dry-pailing if you want to.
  •    Every couple of days just machine wash your nappies with about 1/3 of the detergent you would normally use.  Sun dry as much as possible.  The sun naturally bleaches stains and sanitises your nappies.
  •     DO NOT use any chemicals such as Napisan, bleaches, fabric softeners or detergent containing fabric softeners as these can be detrimental to the life of your nappies and the fabric used in them.  They will make your nappy leak (due to residue build-up) and cause the  fabric fibres and elastic to break down.
  •      Feel free to dry your nappies in the dryer occasionally although ensure the cycle is set to WARM or cooler as the PUL fabric (waterproof layer) has a plastic coating.
  •      IF you use nappy cream, make sure you use a nappy liner (or 2) to preserve the fabric.
